I Can Knit!

I taught myself to knit when my son was a toddler and I've actually completed a few small things and attempted a large item or two. I say attempted because I'm clumsy and drop things, stitches included. Frustrating! My son has dropped a few stitches for me too. He found great pleasure in unraveling a half complete tunic, and I think, seeing the stitches run like nylons gave him an extra thrill. At 16 he still has to check out every new gadget I purchase but, since he's lost interest in knitting needles, and I've discovered circulars, I decided to try my hand at a small wearable.

I'm thrilled with the way it turned out, being my first knit non-outerwear wearable, and because I enjoyed it so much, I purchased a set of interchangable needles. I think most of my frustration came from the straight needles. I found it easier to drop stitches with them and they really aren't so compact that I'd feel like taking them with me when I was on the go, which is when I find most of my yarn time. The circulars however, are flexable and allow me to fold my project for travel and I have plenty of room to work so, while I'm still clumsy, I don't drop stitches like I used to.
